The Year-End Concert - Cloetesville Primary







The Cloetesville Concert was held on the 13th of November 2013 at Cloetesville Primary. All parents were invited and entire families arrived with much support from the community. There were even audience members outside of the community who came just to witness the beauty of music! The concert opened with a speech by the Jamestown sound Committe member Hermien Wium where she congratulated the children on their hardwork and thanked the parents for the dedication. The Recorder students then opened the concert, followed by the Guitar and Piano, and Violin students. The concert was divided by a Prize giving by Erina Kaizer where she handed out certificates to students who had excelled in the year. The concert was ended by the Cloetesville choir conducted by Lucinda Watts, the choir performed the Irish Blessing, Somer Kersfees and Sounds of Africa. The audience cheered and clapped to a great concert and a splendid evening!

Winelands Orchestral Festival 2013

Die Wynlandse Orkes Fees van 2013  het op die 2de en 3de Maart plaasgevind en was by Bridge House College in Franschhoek. Dit was `n aangename ervaring gewees. Hulle het die geleentheid gehad om saam met anders kinders van orals in die Wes-Kaap in `n orkes te speel en het ook van orkesspel geleer. Hulle het vir twee dae lank heeltyd geoefen in `n orkes vir die konsert wat toe op die Sondag-aand plaasgevind het. Drie van Jamestown Sounds se leerlinge het dit bygewoon, naamlik: Alicia Willemse (viool), Cameron Davids (viool) en Peter-John Hartnick (klarinet).

The Winelands Orchestral Festival 2013 took place on the 2nd and 3rd of March at Bridge House College in Franschhoek. This festival provided the opportunity for children from all schools in the Western Cape to come together with their instruments for a weekend. During this weekend they rehearsed orchestral pieces for a concert on the Sunday night. They recieved lessons on orchestral playing and became part of the Winelands Orchestra. Three of our Jamestown Sounds students took part, they were: Alicia Willemse (violin), Cameron Davids (violin) en Peter-John Hartnick (Clarinet).

Jamestown Sounds Arrives on the NET

Jamestown Sounds has been operating for many years since 2005 in the Stellenbosch region, enriching the community of Cloetesville and Weber-Gedenk Primary Schools with music. We are now on the WEB!!! =)
